Mandy Marahimin

Mandy Marahimin started working in film as a publicist for the film “Ada Apa dengan Cinta? (What’s With Love?)”, which held the record for the highest grossed Indonesian film for 6 years, and catapulted many young actors and actresses into stardom. Since then, she has worked as a publicist, a line producer and a producer, before she decided to start her own production company in 2013, named Tanakhir Films.

With her current production company she has produced feature films, documentary films, and short films. In 2013, she was also invited to become a participant in Rotterdam Lab. She now has more than 10 films under her belt. One was the recent box-office hit “What’s with Love 2” that became the ninth highest grossed Indonesian films of all time. Her most recent production was a short documentary titled “A Man with 12 Wives” that aired in NHK World, and a feature documentary titled “Islands of Faith.” She is currently producing a feature documentary titled “One Big Sumba Family” and in development of a feature film from first time director Tumpal Tampubolon titled “Crocodile Tears.” In 2020, she was selected into Berlinale Talents.

She also works for Ideosource Entertainment, a venture capital that funds films as an investment analyst, and as the Outreach Director for Good Pitch South East Asia and Good Pitch Indonesia.

Jade Castro

Jade Castro is a director, writer, and producer in the Philippines. His directorial debut Endo about contractual workers in love won the Cinemalaya Grand Jury Prize and Gawad Urian Best Screenplay, and was in competition at The Festival of the Three Continents. His other films include the queer horror comedy Remington and the Curse of the Zombadings, which won Best Asian Film at the Neuchatel International Film Festival; the independent political satire Juana C: The Movie; and the romantic studio movies My Big Love, My Kontrabida Girl and My Lady Boss from Star Cinema and GMA Films, respectively. His latest film is the youth musical LSS (Last Song Syndrome), which had its world premier at the 2020 Osaka Asian Film Festival. He also directs for television and commercials.

As producer, his company ufo Pictures produced the films Sarong Banggi and The Blossoming of Maximo Oliveros, which won the Teddy Award at Berlin International Film Festival, while his other company Origin8 Media also markets and distributes films. They are the Philippine distributor of Anthony Chen’s Ilo Ilo, John Sayles’ Amigo, and Lav Diaz’s Norte The End of History, among others. He produced the short films Contestant #4 by 17-year old directors Jared Joven and Kaj Palanca, which won Best Film at the Shanghai Queer Film Festival, and Isang Daa’t Isang Mariposa, which premiered at QCinema International Film Festival. He is currently producing Petersen Vargas’ second feature, Some Nights I Feel Like Walking, which won SEAFIC award at Southeast Asia Fiction Film Lab and will participate at 2020 Cannes Cinefondation Atelier.

Jade Castro is also a creative consultant who has helped young and first-time Filipino filmmakers realize their early works, including Siege Ledesma’s Shift, Miko Livelo’s Blue Bustamante, Petersen Vargas’ Lisyun Qng Geografia and 2 Cool 2 Be 4Gotten, Samantha Lee’s Baka Bukas, Kip Oebanda’s Bar Boys and Liway, and Rayn Brizuela’s Asuang – all award-winners. 

As writer, his screenplays include the Filipino fan favorites My Amnesia Girl, First Day High, and the animated film RPG Metanoia. Castro is also a published critic, instructor, and script reader. He teaches basic film directing at Asia Pacific Film Institute and Meridian International College. He grew up in the province of Cavite and graduated with honors from the University of the Philippines.

Eseel Borlasa has over a decade of outreach and PR experience in film and music. Her work reflects an intersection of community engagement, crafted social media presence, and in-depth press coverage. Eseel has executed film festival campaigns at Sundance, SXSW, TIFF, LA Film Festival and more. She also specializes in theatrical and broadcast premieres.

Eseel is also part of the LA Asian Pacific Film Festival, produced by Visual Communications (VC) - the first non-profit organization in the US dedicated to the honest and accurate portrayals of the Asian Pacific American peoples, communities, and heritage through the media arts. There, with VC and Form follows function, Eseel produced two 360-degree video short documentaries: Walking With Grace and Bronze, Brass, Jazz. She is currently the Operations Director and a Senior Programmer for the upcoming 2020 festival.
