Plural Co-existence in a Singaporean context: It is a situation where various ethnicities interact cohesively, to negotiate possible conflicts between themselves. This can be interpreted as a form of ‘racial harmony'. The government strived to achieve this when Singapore first gained independence, as locals were migrants from various parts of Asia, with different racial backgrounds. We take on the perspective of the Chinese, a majority race amongst many that makes up Singapore's population. We explore how Public Housing, commonly termed HDB buildings, serves as a space to integrate the various races, cultures and religions present in current day Singapore.
