HER - Women In Asia S2: EPISODE 6: My Roots

HER portrays the lives of women from all spheres of Asian societies, featuring protagonists from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. In each episode, three women give their perspectives on universal, existential and crucial topics such as careers in male dominated professions, motherhood, money and self-expression.

What role do traditions play in women’s lives? Is it important to move away from one's roots to lead an independent, self-determined life? Or is it more that the roots themselves provide a secure basis to move ahead? Three women from different Asian countries share their stories on what roots and tradition mean to them. HER sheds a light on how traditions and roots can have such different meanings. For example for Lauren Sevilla Faustino who decided to leave her modern life in Manila. And then there is the story from Thailand of Andrew’s journey leaving his roots and transitioning to Anne.
