Kawula (Abdi)

Aswan Winarto (64), ahead of a family who chose to live as a servant of the warrior at Pura Pakualaman in Yogyakarta after retiring from a civil servant. He chose to become Abdi Dalem because he wanted to continue to preserve Javanese culture, especially the culture in the Pakualaman Palace Temple which has been carried out from generation to generation such as Caos (Guarding), Paringan Dalem (giving a kind of wage), Grebek, Labuan, and the Dwojo Change Ceremony. However, this intention and dedication is contrary to the so-called “wages” which are only found at twenty thousand rupiahs every thirty-five days. A wage of that size, if used to meet the needs of daily life, clearly cannot meet the needs of a family in Yogyakarta. Even though he only received a small wage, the intention and dedication of the servants, especially Pak Aswan, was carried out sincerely and sincerely without expecting the large wages he would get when he became a servant of the Pakualaman Palace Palace. Pak Aswan will continue to serve selflessly to Dhawuh Dalem Keraton Pakualaman and will continue to be the culture of Javanese culture.
