Life On Mars
With the Earth's ecosystems on the verge of collapse a mysterious messenger (Astro-Girl) arrives to deliver a warning, but she's completely ignored. Instead, the scientist, representing the voice of human leadership, proclaims the triumph of the Anthropocene saying, "It's our world, we're in control." Astro-Girl weeps, because we can't even control our emotions or our greed for convenience, comfort and wealth. Why do we live like this? Is it religion, is it commerce or have we simply evolved to become the most ruthless creature on the planet? The truth is, that the things we take for granted, like the weather, the soil and compassion are too easily sacrificed in the pursuit of dominance over the Earth. What folly is this? Astro-Girl needs to leave. She takes her battered suitcase and walks towards the horizon. She knows that humans live on the most perfect planet in the universe and she asks us to, "Make peace with the Earth" because "Life is not better on Mars."
