At the age of 6, Zeen’s mother was shockingly murdered by their domestic helper. Her mother was a single mom, and her father did not want to take her in. Feeling unwanted and robbed of her childhood, she was thrown around, searching for a place to belong. Zeen had a lot of pent-up anger and guilt growing up, and sometimes wished that she could take her mother’s place instead. It was only after going to university that she shared her story and was encouraged by her professor to see a counsellor. Now 23 years old, she is slowly on her journey of self-acceptance and closure.
