Makam Syeikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani

The Story of the Spread of Islam Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani Lumajang, East Java Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani is a Persian scholar. His grandfather Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani was Qutub Sheikh Syaiban Al Iraqi Al Bagdadi, cousin of Imam Ahmad Bin Hambal Assyaibani. He had studied religion in Mecca, memorized the Koran and hadith and had performed the pilgrimage 28 times. At the age of 30, he moved to Yemen. Then by the first king of the Ottoman Empire, Amir Ghazi, who ruled in 1230-1281, he was ordered to spread the teachings of Islam to the eastern region or the archipelago. Then he arrived in Aceh and married Cut Nazilah and Sheikhoh Aisyah Binti Muhammad Al Marbawi. After that he began to spread Islam from Aceh to Ternate, by giving an example of goodness so that many officials or dukes at that time embraced Islam. In his wanderings in the archipelago he also had a wife Signorita Miguela from Then around 1250 AD Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani arrived in the Lumajang Kingdom and began to spread Islam. In this area he later married Roro Wulandari Bibi from Minak Koncar Lumajang. In Lumajang, he interacted a lot so that many people there embraced Islam. While in Lumajang, there were many karomah from Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani including being able to speak all languages, including the language of angels, jinn and animals. It is said that according to residents around the petilasan of Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani, everything he wanted would come true, because of his karomah. Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani is also believed to have the karomah to reach faraway places in seconds. Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani was also an adviser to the then ruler of Lumajang, Raden Arya Wiraraja. Arya Wiraraja was previously the Duke of Sumenep who was one of the figures who helped Raden Wijaya establish Majapahit so that he was given power in the area around Lumajang, Probolinggo to the east to Banyuwangi under the name Lamajang Tigang Juru. Even the tomb of Arya Wiraraja and a number of senopati of the Lumajang Kingdom is close to the tomb of Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani. So it is said that some residents around the tomb of Arya Wiraraja believe that the former Duke of Sumenep has embraced Islam at the end of his life with direct guidance from Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani. Two well-known students of Sheikh Abdurrohman Assyaibani are Sheikh Abdullah from Lumajang and Sheikh Muhammad Anas from Demak. His struggle to spread Islam gave enlightenment to overcome the darkness and polytheism of society. With the sacredness of all humans and animals submit to his invitation with pleasure. After the death of Sheikh Abdurrahman Assyaibani it is said that he was buried in Biting Hamlet (Benteng), Kutorenon Village, Sukadana District, Lumajang. Syekh Abdurrahman Assyaibani's Islamic missionary struggle was then continued by Wali Songo.
