Need disco clothes? For a generation of Singapore youth in the 1970s and 1980s, a visit to Second Chance was a must!

Mr Mohamed Salleh Marican founded menswear shop Second Chance in 1975, which became the first Malay company listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore in 1997. His boutique First Lady and jewellery chain Golden Chance are also household names within the Malay community. The Salleh Marican Foundation was started in 2021 to support philanthropic causes in Singapore and beyond.

Mr Salleh was interviewed for National Archives of Singapore’s Community-driven Oral History Project in 2022. “Stories from Our Communities” is a video series to mine these rich interviews for heartfelt anecdotes of an earlier era of Singapore.
